The Daedalus String Quartet, for a young group, has a long history that may help explain its rapid-fire success…. They thought it “might be fun” to learn some pieces for the Banff International Chamber Music Competition and invited Minneapolis violist Jessica Thompson to join them…. Their new foursome took the grand prize at Banff, Canada, in 2001, power-launching a concert career that took them to 50 cities last season, piling up gusher reviews.
