Women in the Director’s Chair: 10 years at the helm

Playback: In 1995 “[Carol] Whiteman set about creating a modular workshop designed to mimic the process of production, with women assuming helming duties. The concept became reality through a partnership with Women in Film and Video Vancouver, ACTRA and The Banff Centre, which would be the site of the workshop and provide many of the resources needed to execute the program.”

Nunavut’s getting animated with help from BNMI

Nunatsiaq News: “Three years after producers from the National Film Board first scouted Iqaluit, Cape Dorset and Pangnirtung for Nunavummiut who want to learn animation skills, a series of animation workshops are finally scheduled to start in January…. The chosen filmmakers will go to the Banff New Media Institute in Alberta to direct and animate their films, which will be available in French, Inuktitut and English.”
