Greetings from Scotland. Overnight have had this drawn to my attention by a friend (one of Canada's finest current poets), and am looking forward to reading more. Colin Sanderson, ASP Art & Science Projects, Edinburgh.

PS: love the aerial perspective in the stage set in the topmost picture. Very cleverly done with the classic blue hills in the distance! Beautiful.

As another Banff Sci grad (2007, like Elie) I really enjoyed the story. Two science-based books later I still delve back into the memory banks to think about some of the things we did. While the faculty, led by Jay and Mary Anne were crucial, I got about as much from my clas-mates.

It would be so nice to be able to email this article to a researcher in Scandinavia.

And how have I not heard about this program before, despite
living in Alberta, despite
reading all the information sent to the artists who have
partaken in the arts program?

My fault?

Now the hills are alive...with the sound of music! I was lucky enough to catch the tail end of the Serena Ryder concert - the inaugural event for the amphitheatre - while attending the Science Communications course at the Banff Centre in August. What a lovely new outdoor space.

Yes I'm agree with this idea for requiring an oasis to take out the inner creativity space every one has in, specially when the outside activity is really full and complex,I think compose music for an Opera is not only a melodie or song, is a huge challenge and also, write the libretto is really twice, wonderfull, I was once at Banff's Centre and it is really magic over there, the spirits of all the creators, performers, faculty and every one involucrated in the arts are floating in the air, going down close the grond, the flowers, the grass, or gonig really high beyond the tallest tree or mountain,, dancing, making music, poetry, and more, together, like an Angel's crew beside the power of god. Thanks to Banff's Centre for inspiring each second in this world and really congratulations and blessings for everyone over there as Miss Lera Auverbach.

Jack Diamond has sullied the Banff Centre with two positively dreadful buildings.

His most recent creation (not seen above), the so-called Kinnear Centre is perhaps the most disgraceful architecture to ever impose itself upon a National Park; I give it a decade or so--shy of a retrofit-- when another legacy-conscious donor takes down this monstrosity.

Diamond's works seem insensitive to the spirit of this special place--Tunnel Mountain (aka Sleeping Buffalo)--a set & setting that does not benefit from his urban sensibility (a poorly conceived one at that).

The sound, in particular, the psychoacoustics inside Diamond's airplane-hanger-terminal masquerading as architecture is particularly obnoxioux.

Shame!

Hi Im 11 and need to write a 1-2 PG. report so I chose you because I love sculptures and espiacially yours because your work is just so alive and fantastic. What I need to know is how you got into sculpting and what drove to doing art like this, also I like to know how you made your art, and why would you make art like this. If it's to much to ask you dont have to answer.
